Overnight Monitoring and Hospitalization for Referral Hospitals

The overnight care program is designed to provide overnight care to patients that have already been examined and treated or hospitalized by you, the patient's family veterinarian.  Our nursing staff will continue to provide your prescribed treatments and monitoring overnight with the patient returning to you the next morning.

This option allows for continual 24 hour care for patients that are seen in a day practice without having to transfer the case to another veterinarian.  You maintain the continuity of care for your patient but at the same time provide around the clock monitoring and treatments.  In the event the patient's condition begins to change, our on-duty veterinarian will be able to examine the patient and consult with you over the phone.

Communication on the status of the patient is with the RDVM.  A night time phone number for the RDVM is needed to allow for communication should the status of the patient change.  The RDVM will be responsible for communication with the owner.  The cost of care will be billed to the RDVM, with a copy of the invoice available the morning of discharge.

Intensive Care Overnignt (12 hours) includes:

Administration of IV fluids and medications as well as monitoring.  Examples:  Parvo, moderate to severe trauma cases, seizure patients.  RDVM will fill out a treatment sheet (download below) to accompany their patient.

Treatment Sheet    You will need adobe acrobat reader to open this pdf file.   For a free download of acrobat reader go to http://get.adobe.com/reader/

The cost of medications and fluids are additional. (if not provided by RDVM) Radiographs, blood work and other diagnostics are available for an additional fee.  An estimate can be provided for individual cases.

Patients that have NOT been seen or are unstable are NOT good candidates for this service.

Direct communication and billing between Taylor ER and the client is advised in this situation.  Prognosis and treatments can change quickly, requiring frequent communication and approval from the owner.
